Vancouver Flights

For those students whose flights terminate in Vancouver, we offer a special pick-up service at an additional cost. A staff member will meet students at the Vancouver International Airport and accompany them to Victoria via bus and ferry. Academic and Cultural

This intense, challenging and rewarding ESL programme is designed to give students who have some or no English a well-rounded academic and cultural curriculum. Upon arrival, participants' English skills are assessed and students are placed with students who have similar skill and age levels.

Programme

  • 25-30 hours per week of formal English instruction delivered Monday to Friday
  • British Columbia-certified teachers
  • a focus on the development and mastery of English language skills including listening, speaking, writing, and reading
  • pronunciation practice with a certified speech therapist
  • interaction with local Canadian students who act as mentors and encourage you to use and develop your English skills

Ages 12-18
In classes of 10-12, students improve their language skills while enjoying SMUS boarding life and participating in cultural activities.

Ages 9-11
Students between the ages of 9-11 are placed in a separate class, participate in different or modified evening and weekend activities, have earlier check-in and lights out times, and extra staff supervision in boarding. This applies to all students born after January 1, 1999.For more information, please the Education Extension office.
