The SMUS Advancement Office was opened in the Fall of 1992, with a mandate to build and strengthen relationships between the school and its greater family of alumni, current and past parents, and friends. At the same time, the office was charged with initiating Annual Giving and broader fundraising programmes to strengthen the events based fundraising programme which had been initiated to support the building of the gymnasium and science building.
